CONTROVERSY

1996           The controversy surrounding the removal of my painting, "Madonna and Rat" from the Ray Edwards Gallery at East High
School in Madison, WI extends to radio and television. Among other things, the painting was shown and discussed on
Channel 27 News, 6:00 pm, Madison, talked about on the Paul Harvey radio show, on stations WMAD and 1070 AM in
Madison, and the topic of a "Social Dilemma" segment on WIBA  FM. I was live on WLUP radio in Chicago; interviewed three
times by WJFK radio out of Washington D.C. (broadcast nationally on the Westwood One Radio Network); was contacted                                    by a reporter from the Washington Post, and by Chuck Smith, CBS News, New York for a possible show topic on new
television show in January. The USA Today article was flashed on the screen during the Weekend Update segment of the
Saturday Night Live show (October 26, 1996) while Norm McDonald joked about one of my printed comments.
